Modelling Dynamical Geometry with Lattice Gas Automata

چکیده

Conventional lattice gas automata consist of particles moving discretely on a xed lattice. While such models have been quite successful for a variety of uid ow problems, there are other systems, e.g., ow in a exible membrane or chemical self-assembly, in which the geometry is dynamical and coupled to the particle ow. Systems of this type seem to call for lattice gas models with dynamical geometry. We construct such a model on one dimensional (periodic) lattices and describe some simulations illustrating its nonequilibrium dynamics. PACS numbers: 05.70.Ln, 02.70.Ns, 82.20.Mj, 82.65.Dp.

Lattice Gas Automata Simulation of Adsorption Process of Polymer in Porous Media

Lattice gas automata (LGA) model is developed to simulate polymer adsorption process by adding some collision rules. The simulation result of the model is matched with batch experiment and compared with accepted isothermal adsorption equations. They show that the model is viable to perform simulation of the polymer adsorption process. The LGA model is then applied for simulating continuous poly...

Modelling Surface Flows for Macroscopic Phenomena by Cellular Automata: An Application to Debris Flows

Cellular automata are good candidates for modelling and simulating complex dynamical systems, whose evolution depends on the local interactions of their constituent parts. Many macroscopic phenomena have such features, but their complexity involves sometime the interaction of heterogeneous processes, whose composition is not immediate in a cellular automaton frame. Furthermore the managing of f...

Lava Invasion Susceptibility Hazard Mapping Through Cellular Automata

This work deals with a new methodology for the definition of volcanic susceptibly hazard maps through Cellular Automata and Genetic Algorithms. Specifically, the paper describes the proposed approach and presents the first results to the SouthEastern flank of Mt. Etna (Sicily, Italy). In particular, resulting hazard maps are characterized by a high degree of detail and allow for a punctual and...

Entropy and Chaos in a Lattice Gas Cellular Automata

We find a simple linear relation between the thermodynamic entropy and the largest Lyapunov exponent (LLE) of an discrete hydrodynamical system, a deterministic, two-dimensional lattice gas automaton (LGCA). This relation can be extended to irreversible processes considering the Boltzmann’s H function and the expansion factor of the LLE. The definition of LLE for cellular automata is based on t...

Object-Oriented Implementation Of CA/LGCA Modelling Applied To The Spread Of Epidemics

The authors have applied the CA/LGCA (“Cellular Automata”/ “Lattice Gas Cellular Automata”) methodology to develop and analyse models of spread of epidemics of infectious diseases. Object-Oriented Analysis and Design of the computer models has been performed using the Unified Modelling Language (UML). All required algorithms and data structures have been coded in C++.
